We have just landed this Seajay 4.2 Nomad that is powered by a four stroke Yamaha 25Hp outboard that would make for an ideal impoundment and estuary fishing and crabbing package for the budget conscious boatie. Or, dare I say for one that has a 6 metery, yet yearns for an affordable second (yes I said it a second) boat to get up the creeks and out on the freshwater dams.

First Impressions

Sea Jay boats are well renowned for manufacturing quality aluminium fishing boats from open tinnies to large offshore heavily customised plate alloy craft. The Nomad model has been the quiet achiever and the smaller models probably the most popular car topper ever made!

This rig although a 2001 hull has been well loved and stored in a shed some 3 hours west of Brisbane for much of its life. As the photos depict plenty of quality features and accessories all in a manageable sized package. Powered by a 25Hp Yamaha that has recorded on the hour meter a low 76 hours and atop of this has been tested presale by our workshop team who note a clean outboard that is further backed by a 3-month warranty.

The Motor

Like all engines we desire simplicity and ease of use and this Yammy is fitted with electric start and power trim and tilt making skippering simple and stress free. A motor support bracket is included for those traversing the highways and I like how the engine foil is fitted to help the hull plane quicker. The motor has a great service history recorded and was last used just after its last service in April 2019.

For the Angler

The angler will love the upgraded Simrad GO7XSE combo colour screen sounder/GPS fitted as just go to YouTube and ad this model to see its features and screen resolution! A mapping card is also another bonus in the deal as its included. A through hull live bait tank is neatly incorporated into the hull and all good sports fishing boats should have a great bow casting platform as this one does.

On the Trailer

Trailering is simple on the Redeco RE1213S trailer that marries to the hull like a glove. The trailer was made in February 2002, yet you wouldn’t guess that once you see the trailer. A spare wheel is included and like all trailers sold through JCM they are serviced prior to leaving JCM to ensure your on-road towing safety – why risk buying privately?
